Exhibition

April 30 – June 1, 2015

Illuminating John Sloan brings to light prints and illustrations by American Ashcan School artist John Sloan (1871-1951) from Bryn Mawr College’s Special Collections. Exploring Sloan’s use of light to organize his compositions and to direct the viewer’s attention, this exhibition spotlights subjects the artist considered significant.

The exhibition was organized by nine students in a seminar led by Carrie Robbins, PhD ’13, Lecturer, Department of History of Art and designed by Nathanael Roesch. The exhibition is made possible with the support of Bryn Mawr College’s Museum Studies Working Group, Department of History of Art, and Special Collections. Additional thanks to Carpenter Library staff and Haverford College’s Special Collections.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. VIEW MORE INFORMATION.
